Wine & Barrel – “a remarkable competition, in the measure of the greatest virtuosos of the oak ageing and their exceptional wines. “
The qualitative confrontation of the world’s best wines aged in oak wood took place on October 10 at the Noirlac Abbey, in the edge of the Tronçais forest.
For this 6th edition, no less than 114 wines from 16 different countries were presented to the competition. Among the countries represented we can find, for example, Australia, South Africa, France, Switzerland, Hungary …
The event, organized by the Forum Oenology association, brings together experts from several countries. Each jury is composed of four expert tasters. The jurors evaluate the wines individually and gold, silver or bronze medals, representative of the quality of the wines, are awarded by a jury.
To become an expert juror, each taster selected rigorously receives training by the contest organizers to better understand the methodology of evaluation of wines, which respects the rules of international competitions and strictly applies the rules of quality assurance ISO 9002. For three years now, Anthéa Bruno, oenologist of the Groupe Charlois Research & Innovation department, has participated as an expert juror at this event.
