LA GRANGE: cooperage

21 November 2016

The values of the Charlois Group are today more than ever before focused on recognising these trees which are over a century old. This recognition involves activities and projects which will enhance the oak itself. In 2015, La Grange became a reality. In a renovated 18th century building, this cooperage is home to a few expert coopers. In the workshop, very high-end barrels are brought to life, entirely hand-made from specially selected staves from oak from the most prestigious forests in France.

The group’s buyers, design office and its best coopers are all involved in this project. Every aspect in the production of these barrels is given equal importance: selection of the oak and staves, careful choice of the hoops, research and design of the shapes, finishes and presentation.
