Appointment : Charles de Lorgeril – Nicolas Mähler-Besse

To support the President in the daily management of the group, we are pleased to announce the appointments of Charles de Lorgeril as Chief of Staff and Nicolas Mähler-Besse as Group Brand Director, responsible for commerce and strategy, effective October 1, 2022.
Charles de Lorgeril comes from a family of winegrowers in Languedoc and Roussillon. A graduate of Sciences Po and HEC, he began his career with Rougier Afrique International, a family-owned group specializing in sustainable forestry in Africa. He then held various development roles at GL events before contributing to the creation of a General Management division dedicated to the transformation of this international group.
Charles de Lorgeril will work on cross-functional topics based on the group’s priority initiatives, handling projects as requested by the President. He will focus on missions related to strategic developments, partnerships, and external growth, as well as cross-functional operational projects or matters concerning the organization and governance of the group, with the primary objective of supporting Sylvain Charlois in his daily responsibilities.
He will be based in Bordeaux and report directly to the Group President.
Nicolas Mähler-Besse comes from a family of Bordeaux wine merchants, owners of Château Michel de Montaigne and shareholders in Château Palmer (3rd Grand Cru Classé of Margaux). He is also the founder of the investment firm Antigone.
A graduate in biology (University of Bordeaux) and economics (Kedge Business School), his professional career has been primarily tied to the cooperage industry, where he has held various positions, including serving as CEO of the Seguin-Moreau Group for over 10 years.
For over 20 years, Nicolas Mähler-Besse has traveled extensively, gaining a broad and enriched international understanding of wine culture.
In his new role, Nicolas will be responsible for driving the energy and strategic development of the group’s brands while identifying growth opportunities.
