International Day of Forests 2022

17 March 2022

Established in 2012 by the United Nations, the International Day of Forests is celebrated annually on March 21. On this occasion, events are organized worldwide to protect, promote, and celebrate forests.

For the 2022 edition, the United Nations emphasized “The role of forests in ensuring sustainable production and consumption.” This theme aligns perfectly with the day’s mission: to highlight the value of forests, trees, and wood while raising public awareness about sustainable forest management and their crucial role in the ecological and energy transitions.

From March 18 to 27, 2022, hundreds of events and activities will be available to the public across France, including:Exhibitions, Conferences, Workshops for young audiences, Treasure hunts, Storytelling walks, Debates, Film screenings. These events aim to educate people of all ages about the vital services provided by forests and the importance of their preservation

The Climate Academyin Paris will host “Forêts en scène”, an event organized by the ONF (French National Forest Office). The public will have the opportunity to explore the world of forest and wood professions, alongside other forest- and tree-focused activities.
