Running for a Good Cause

13 June 2024

We Started with 500, and with a Quick Reinforcement… We Ended Up with 1,500 on the Pont de Loire…
This is the lesson to be learned from the 12th edition of the Bottine, organized by
French-Run this weekend in Nevers.

Because everyone, whether directly or indirectly, has been affected, is affected, or will be affected by cancer, all initiatives aimed at encouraging screening, prevention, and the fight against the disease in all its forms must be applauded, encouraged, and supported. This is the spirit Charlois embraced in its support of the races organized this weekend in Nevers: La Moustache and La Bottine.
On Saturday, June 8, La Moustache, an urban trail race through the city of Nevers and its various buildings, gathered 500 participants, some wearing a moustache, others not. Before that, knights and princesses set off for a 1-kilometer run starting from the Palais-Ducal, just like the adults. Despite the rain, the participants were undeterred, and their smiles at the finish line were proof of their determination.

Supporting and Encouraging

On Sunday, the runners set off from the Pont de Loire, with 1,500 registered participants for a 5-kilometer journey through the streets and alleys of Nevers. Some ran, others walked, and a few men joined the procession for a good cause. The most important thing was that they were all running for the right cause. The top three women to cross the finish line, with Sophie Lavaut leading, were rewarded with medals and prizes offered by the event’s partners, but it was the 1,500 participants who truly won.
The Palais-Ducal stairs resembled an Olympic podium, filled with medals, rewards, and speeches.Charlois, Charlois, a partner in the event through its, La Chênaie, cosmetics line emphasized the importance of the fight against cancer. In the words of Sonia Charlois, HR Director at Charlois:
“The cause is beautiful, the cause is strong, the cause is noble. Today, everyone is affected by cancer. Sports contribute a lot, for any condition, it’s important to highlight that, and also to take care of oneself. We need to bring well-being. At our level, we are committed to encouraging and supporting local initiatives like this, as it fosters energy and well-being in our region.” In total, 2,185 people participated in the running event over the weekend. The funds raised will go towards financing local projects in the fight against breast cancer, in collaboration with the Ligue contre le cancer.
