Wine and barrels competition: the winners announced

At the beginning of October, the 7th edition of Wine and barrels competition took place in the beautiful surroundings of the Noirlac Abbey in France.

 

The Wine and Barrels competition or « Alliances du monde » is aimed at exceptional wines aged in oak barrels, which represent less than 2% of the world’s wine volume.

 

The jury experts evaluated nearly 86 samples from 13 countries of the world: France of course, South Africa, Australia, Italy, Moldova, and many others … The criteria for the evaluation takes into account the intensity and quality of the wines, but also the general harmony and the integration of the woody flavors with the wine.

 

This year, the jury, which includes one of Groupe Charlois enologist, awards 28 wines with 14 gold medals and 14 silver medals.

 

France is the most awarded with 8 gold medal and 7 silver medal. Italy is in second place with 3 gold medal and 2 silver medals. Third place on the podium is Australia, which has 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal.

 

Finally come Spain (1 gold medal), Turkey (2 silver medals), Switzerland (1 silver medal) and Croatia (1 silver medal).
