Oakwood cooperage honored at the Highland Business Awards 2023

Charlois Group is proud to announce that Oakwood Cooperage has been awarded this year’s Highland Business Award for Global Growth for its outstanding international growth in the used cask market for spirits.

The Highland Business Awards are given annually by the Inverness* Chamber of Commerce as part of Highland Business Week. The 12 awards are attributed to companies and individuals who have made a significant contribution to Scotland’s northern economy.

About Oakwood Cooperage

Located in Keith and Uddingston, near Glasgow, Oakwood Cooperage was founded by Brent Bowie in 2018 and has around 100 employees.

The company specializes in the restoration of used whisky casks and international trade in second-hand casks (Bourbon, Sherry, Port, etc.). All these oak containers thus enter a new life cycle, extending the virtuous circle of sustainable management. The same oak barrel can be over 100 years old, having been used to age fine wine and then spirits.

*Inverness is the administrative capital of the Highland region and the main town in the Highlands region of northern Scotland.
