More than three and a half centuries of activities and local traditions have firmly rooted the Charlois Group in Murlin, at the heart of the Bertranges Forest. This loyalty and deep connection to the region have naturally led the company to develop several major cultural projects within this wooded Nivernais village.
Le fonds Charlois pour l’Art et la Forêt it was established in 2018 with the aim of developing, promoting, and showcasing art, culture, and heritage, particularly in connection with the forest, its trades, traditions, and values.
Charlois pour l’Art et la Forêt Its primary missions are to actively contribute to the sustainable management of forests through an extensive (re)forestation initiative (a program spanning nearly 10 years with an annual average of 40,000 plants) and to provide ongoing support for contemporary creation in all its artistic forms. This is achieved through the creation of a brand-new exhibition space and the hosting of artist residencies in Murlin.
The cultural program of the exhibition space, scheduled to open in the first half of 2020, will offer visitors from near and far a diverse cultural experience through exhibitions, concerts, and conferences. Art students and artists will find in Murlin the tranquility and inspiration needed to create and develop their artistic and cultural projects.
Through its missions addressing fundamental issues, the fund aims to raise awareness of the beauty of forest environments and ecosystems, as well as the importance of respecting and protecting them within a framework of sustainable forest management and development.
The preservation and promotion of the history of French forests is also a central focus of theCharlois pour l’Art et la Forêt fund. This is achieved through the creation of an art collection that highlights the evolution of forested areas and their development over the centuries.
