Acquisition of Oakwood Cooperage by Charlois and Antigone.

12 October 2022

The CHARLOIS group, through its subsidiary OAK NATION, and the company ANTIGONE are pleased to announce a majority stake in OAKWOOD COOPERAGE through BLUE OAK (a holding company owned 51% by OAK NATION and 49% by ANTIGONE).

By investing in OAKWOOD COOPERAGE, OAK NATION is making a commitment to the Scottish whisky market. This move also allows the company to expand its activity in the valorization and recycling of used oak barrels, a process for optimizing the oak raw material, which is highly valued by the Charlois group.

By joining OAK NATION, OAKWOOD COOPERAGE will strengthen its position in the rapidly growing international market for used barrels intended for spirits.

Brent Bowie, the founder of the Scottish cooperage, retains 26.5% of the capital and will remain in the role of CEO.

Graham Hamilton remains in charge of sales and holds 17.5% of the capital.
