The pews in Murline’s Saint-Martin church
29 June 2023For several years now, the Charlois group has been involved in the development of the village of Murlin by supporting the commune’s projects to restore and enhance the local heritage.
In 2019, for example, the Charlois group helped finance the restoration of the stained-glass windows in the church of Saint-Martin in Murlin by Timothée Barbeyrac, a stained-glass artist based in Colméry in the Donziais region.
This year, the group is continuing its philanthropic work to beautify the church of Saint-Martin by donating 10 pews to the commune to replace the old pews, which were in too poor a condition to be preserved. To this end, the group called on the services of designer Ambroise Maggiar, who designed the pews in a refined style that respected the function of the furniture by incorporating a shelf at the back of the backrest to hold a Bible or Mass booklet during the religious ceremonies.
Once the prototype had been produced and certain features, such as the inclination of the backrest, had been improved, Manufacture de Prémery set about crafting the 10 solid oak units to achieve a remarkably beautiful result and provide the best in seating comfort.
