International confrontation of the best Chardonnay

The qualitative confrontation of the best Chardonnay in the world took place from March 7th to 9th at the Château des Ravatys, a wine estate of the Institut Pasteur in Saint Lager, winegrowing Burgundy.

The qualitative confrontation of the best Chardonnay in the world took place from March 7th to 9th at the Château des Ravatys, a wine estate of the Institut Pasteur in Saint Lager, winegrowing Burgundy.

For this 25th edition, no less than 678 wines from 38 different countries were presented to the competition. Among the countries represented were Australia, the USA, South Africa, France, Ukraine, Macedonia, Romania…

The event, organized by the Forum Œnologie association, brings together more than 300 experts jurors of which 55% are foreigners. Each jury is composed of four to five experts. The jurors, of which Anthéa Bruno (oenologist – Groupe Charlois) has been part of for two years, evaluate the wines individually. Gold, silver or bronze medals, representative of the quality of the wines, are awarded by a jury.

To become expert jury, each taster, rigorously selected, receives a training by the contest organizers to better apprehend the methodology of evaluation of the wines, which respects the rules of the international competitions and strictly applies the rules of the Quality Assurance ISO 9002.

Next meeting in October 2018, for the 6th edition of Alliances du monde, “a special competition, for the greatest virtuosos of wood ageing and their exceptional wines. “
