Initiated by various NGOs, World Climate Day is celebrated on December 8 each year to raise awareness of the consequences of climate change and the urgency of taking action to mitigate its effects.

ONF’s Initiatives for 2022

To mark this occasion, the ONF (National Forestry Office) has launched several activities to educate the public about:

The impact of climate change on forests.

Daily efforts by foresters to shape the forests of tomorrow.

The benefits of using wood as a sustainable material.

Initiatives include:

Exclusive interviews

Webinars, podcasts, and videos

#jagispourlaforet Trophies: A youth-focused competition for ages 13 to 25.

Aligned with Global Action: COP15

This year’s World Climate Day follows the opening of the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity in Montreal. Governments are working toward a global biodiversity action plan, addressing the intertwined crises of climate change and biodiversity loss.

A joint report by climate (IPCC) and biodiversity (IPBES) experts highlights the shared causes of these crises, which stem from our production and consumption patterns. Sandra Lavorel, CNRS research director at the Alpine Ecology Laboratory, explains:

“The causes of these two phenomena are the same and linked to our modes of production and consumption.”

The Role of Everyone

From individuals to companies and municipalities, everyone has a role to play in combating climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Charlois Group, through its CSR initiatives, has made this a key priority by:

Implementing sustainable forest management practices.

Minimizing environmental impact across its operations.

These actions contribute to both climate change mitigation and the preservation of biodiversity.

Let’s work together to make a difference for our planet!
