Tronçay forest (not to be confused with Tronçais forest in the Allier) once depended on the Châtellenie of Champallement belonging to the Counts, then to the Dukes, of Nevers since 1476. This private forest is located on Saint-Révérien and Vitry-Lâche municipalities.

After having belonged to Louis-Jules Mancini-Mazarini, Tronçay forest became the property of the Duke of Noailles through marriage alliances at the beginning of the 19^th century. As a matter of fact, his wife, Alice Elfrida Victurnienne de Rochechouart-Mortemart, was the granddaughter of Adélaïde-Diane-Hortense-Délie Mancini-Mazarini, daughter of the last Duke of Nevers.

The atlas indicates that the Tronçay forest, containing 641 arpents and 34 perches (approximately 326 hectares), was divided in 22 cuts, from the year 1780 to the year 1801. The atlas also specifies that the forest was subject to a right of usage and has been consequently dissociated from the other woods and forests of the Châtellenie of Champallement.
