Forests around the château de Faye once depended on the Châtellenie of Nevers. Those former ducal forests, located on the Sauvigny-les-Bois and Montigny-aux-Amognes municipalities, are now private forests.
Those former ducal forests were divided in 13 cuts and grouped to the Châtellenie of Châteauneuf-sur-Allier to form a single 18 cuts rotation, started in 1789. The Atlas also indicates that wood logged in those forests were intended for local consumption and for local forges and furnaces as “Briffaut, Harlot, Donzi, Chandoux and Bailly”.
The château de Faye, formerly located at the confluence of the Fontaine de Grandfond and the Faye rivers, now disappeared.
