150 years: Tonnellerie Saury since 1873

Tonnellerie Saury is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.
To celebrate this exceptional event, the Saury Cooperage has created the “150” barrel in a limited edition, numbered and produced in 150 copies, for 2023.
The “150” barrel honors its coopers, the Saury family and the rare oak woods used in cooperage, whose average age is 150 years. It bears a symbol of the oak, its longevity and the one of the Saury Cooperage!
The staves used for these barrels were selected in 2021 according to precise criteria, linked to the fineness of the grains and to the quality of the terroirs where the oaks were harvested. Located on the Saury Cooperage grounds, the staves have been aged for 24 months.
The selection criteria for the staves destined for the manufacture of the “150” barrel were established with a view to reproducibility for future vintages. Thus, each year, the Saury Cooperage will include the “150” barrel in its catalog.
The “150” barrel was previewed at the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium, held in Sacramento on January 24-26, 2023.
