Charlois announces the restructuring of the shareholding of its subsidiary Oak Nation with ICG as a new partner alongside Sylvain Charlois
Having already worked closely with Sylvain Charlois from 2015 to 2018, ICG has now acquired a stake in OAK NATION, taking over from Latour Capital, BNP Développement, Idia and SGCP, who have supported the group’s strong growth over the last five years.
This new partnership allows Sylvain Charlois to strengthen his position as the majority shareholder in OAK NATION, increasing the shareholding of his holding company CHARLOIS & COMPAGNIE to over 73%.
With 35 cooperages in France, Spain, Romania, Scotland, and the United States, 1,100 employees and a turnover of around €300 million, OAK NATION is a major player in the high-end cooperage market for wines and spirits.
Since 2020, OAK NATION has strengthened its position in the wine and cognac cooperage market and consolidated its international presence with acquisitions in Scotland and the United States, thus diversifying into the whisky and bourbon cooperage markets. Thanks to these operations, OAK NATION has also reaffirmed its commitment to rare and precious oak, focusing on the recovery and recycling of used barrels and prolonging their life cycle, as part of a circular economy.
ICG’s entry as a partner is intended to accelerate OAK NATION’s development and support its diversification into new growth markets and segments, based on a strategy of both organic and external growth.
